Masaru knew that look. The blond had it whenever there was something on his mind or when he felt guilty. It only surprised him that it hadn't changed over the last years. Noticing the golden band, the brunette rolled his eyes. "Oh, just stop spinning that thing," he muttered annoyed, resisting the urge to grab the hand and make Tohma stop. "Or even better, just stop wearing it at all..." There wasn't any use for it, after all. It might be a waste for such a pretty ring, but it wasn't like he particularly cared.
Tohma's bedroom, huh... He still remembered the few times he had seen the old one when Chika had insisted on visiting his friend, but most of the time those visits hadn't been pleasant, having ended in utter chaos or with his sister feeling embarrassed in some way or the other. Masaru had to mentally scowl at the thought. If Ikuto hadn't shown up back then, he was certain that she would have an huge crush on Tohma. Pushing that aside, he was just curious what the room looked like.
"Huh?" Raising a brow at the amused tone, the brunette was getting skeptical. Whenever Tohma spoke like that, it never ended well. It was one of the first things he had learnt upon dealing with the blond for the first time. Still, the words caught him somewhat off-guard. "S-stupid Tonma!" Masaru half-shouted and followed with hurried steps. Having seen the smirk, it provoked him more than anything else. "Che, just bring it~! The great Masaru-sama will teach you everything you need to know!" he boasted with an overly confident grin, not wanting to admit that he didn't have any experience either.

It took a few seconds for the words to completely register in Tohma's mind. He gave Masaru a skeptic look but stopped his fidgeting. Instead of going on about how it was his ring and he could do whatever the hell he wanted with it, Tohma sighed. "I suppose you're right," he murmured. The golden band slid easily from his slender finger. Staring at the ring sitting in his palm, the blonde decided he would give it back to Maria.. eventually, and he closed his hand around the piece of jewellery.
Despite the fact that his nickname took a stab at his pride, Tohma's amusement at Masaru's reaction overwhelmed the annoyance. Tohma couldn't help but feel slightly jealous; not because Masaru was better than him at something, but because the brunette seemed confident, so Tohma automatically assumed there had been others that had caught Masaru's attention. For some reason that thought made his heart and sink and he felt like putting his fist through a wall, but he hid it significantly well.
"Well this is it," Tohma mumbled once they had reached the right door. He exchanged the ring in his hand with a small key that he fished out from his pocket and unlocked the door with a quiet click. The interior wasn't much and had an overall blue coloured theme. After all, it wasn't it as Tohma did much entertaining. Tohma stepped aside and beckoned for Masaru to enter first.

"Of course I'm right! You should listen more to the advices I give~," Masaru nodded in slight arrogance, though he was quite surprised that Tohma took the ring off. He hadn't thought that the blond would actually do it. Though, no longer being able to see the band resting on Tohma's finger gave the brunette a false sense of... security, as if the whole mess wasn't that big of a problem after all. But he couldn't say why he felt this way. He just did. Not that he would admit it.
Following his friend to the right room didn't took so long. He almost wished that it did however; now they'd be faced with their situation again. It was his own fault, Masaru knew that. He was the one who wanted to talk in the first place. Now he had to go along, as a man he couldn't simply go back on his words. Yet, he couldn't keep himself from clenching his fists in weird anticipation and nervousness. "Cool," the brunette mumbled quietly as he entered the room first, taking his time to take in their surroundings. The room practically screamed that it belonged to Tohma, not that it surprised him.
"So," Masaru muttered quietly and settled himself on the blond's bed without asking. Sitting down after all that talk down in the main hallway felt good... Sighing contentedly, the brunette kept a brief silence. What now? He wasn't used to it that Tohma left it up to him; thinking wasn't his style. "Well, one thing's certain," he said all of a sudden and met the blond's light blue eyes, smiling weakly. "Mom will be happy to hear the... news, I guess."

Tohma scoffed, but there was no malice in the action. "Get over yourself," he said, rolling his eyes. He was beginning to second-guess himself for allowing such control to be in Masaru's power, but nevertheless, he would still do whatever it was the brunette wanted. Even though the ring no longer sat on his finger, there was no relief for Tohma. Getting rid of the ring didn't get rid of the engagement.
It made Tohma slightly uncomfortable seeing his friend nervous. It just wasn't Masaru. But then again, it was Tohma's fault for including the boy in his own affairs. Of course the blonde was also nervous and was on the brink of feeling nauseous. For some reason, having Masaru see his room made Tohma self-conscience, a feeling that he rarely ever had.
Tohma began to pace a short distance in front of Masaru when he saw the brunette sit on his bed, not that he particularly minded. It seemed that his nervousness had a more physical effect that Tohma had realized; he was usually so controlled and the apprehensive movement didn't suit him well.
Masaru's words came to Tohma as a surprise. He hadn't even thought of telling anyone else other than his father. But.. as long as anyone else's reactions didn't burden Masaru, then Tohma wasn't too wary. Letting his eyes meet Masaru's for a moment, Tohma smiled softly and stilled his pacing. "So, any ideas?"

Staying silent, Masaru watched the blond pace back and forth. To see Tohma nervous enough to not stand still, relieved him a bit. It showed that he wasn't the only one having to deal with this whole mess they were in. But now that he really had the chance to think about it, he realized that he didn't mind it that much. It was a kind of action; different from what he had experienced the last years. But still, action was action.
The brunette had to grin shortly as he saw Tohma's surprise. It was only the truth; his family loved the blond. Ever since he came back, not one day had passed without his mother or sister mentioning Tohma. Though, he wasn't any better than them, having mentioned him just as much if not more... It was one of the reasons why he had decided to see the blond first before he would visit anyone else.
At Tohma's question, Masaru shook his head. "You know that I rather use my fists than my head," he shrugged nonchalantly as he eyed the blond for a moment. "And I doubt that you'd let me punch some sense into your father, heh." The brunette laughed amused; the urge to punch the elder was still there, making his fists itch in expectation.
Scratching his neck while trying to come up with something, Masaru sighed. Thinking too much would only give him a headache in the end. "We only have to make it work, I guess," he remarked, looking up at Tohma. His tone was confident and optimistic, just as his grin. "Or do you have any ideas? I'm open to anything~."

For a moment, it looked as if Tohma was actually considering Masaru's idea. Just because he would never lay a hand on his father didn't mean that Tohma particularly cared if anyone else did. He was pretty sure that his father probably had never been punched in his life. But no, Tohma wasn't going to let Masaru hurt his father; not for Franz's sake, but for the brunette's.
Tohma raised an eyebrow. "Anything?" he repeated. Tohma resumed his pacing, shortening the distance traveled each time. ..Anything.. Tohma figured that Masaru hadn't exactly thought things through when he said 'anything', but nevertheless, the blonde did had a few ideas that resulted from his fast thinking.
"Well.." Tohma began, his voice slightly uneasy and nervous sounding, "There was something that I think we should try.. practice.. so that, you know, it looks convincing." Tohma couldn't believe that he had actually brought up the topic let alone tried to justify it.
Although it was physically uncomfortable, Tohma crouched down slightly to meet Masaru's seated height and bashfully reached out to place hand on the boy's shoulder. Before he could even collect his train of thought, Tohma found himself leaning in, placing a chaste kiss on Masaru's lips. He allowed it linger for a few seconds before pulling back and straightening himself out, partially covering his mouth with his hand, his cheeks beginning to tint a light pink. "Was that any good?" he asked timidly, averting his gaze towards any direction that Masaru wasn't in.

Masaru gave a brief nod. He hadn't thought of anything in particular when he had said it. They needed some sort of idea when they wanted to make it work. Rolling his eyes as he watched the blond continue his pacing, the brunette sighed. Seeing Tohma nervous and not composed was weird, but not exactly unpleasant. It was nice to see a different side of his friend...
"Something we should... practice?" Furrowing his brow, the brunette was visibly confused. "And what is it?" he asked, not really getting why the boy seemed so flustered. But whatever it was Tohma had in mind, it made him curious.
But before he could say anything else, Tohma was right in front of him and leaned in. All Masaru could do, was to stare in shock at his friend as he was kissed. This... wasn't his imagination playing a prank, it was real. Tohma kissed him. It didn't feel like anything girls loved to describe kissing with; there was no romance, no fireworks, only a nervous knot in his stomach that seemed to tingle in warm anticipation. The brunette couldn't believe that he felt something like disappointment when the touch ended.
Feeling his own cheeks heat up, he was silent. His olive-green eyes kept staring at the blond, unable to tear their gaze away. What did the genius want to hear? He didn't want to say out loud that the kiss instead of grossing him out, had felt nice. "No," he found himself saying as he took a hold of Tohma's wrist, pulling him closer with gentle force. "It was... too short, I can't really say how it was," he grinned weakly, feeling somewhat embarrassed because of his next words. "I'm afraid you... have to do it again."

Feeling Masaru's intense stare on him make Tohma slightly uneasy, the want to hurl increasing. He mentally planned to get pills for that. After all, who's want to date someone who was constantly throwing up? He was more nervous about Masaru's reaction than the actual kiss, which he reluctantly admitted felt.. right, and not awkward or uncomfortable like he thought he would be. Well on Tohma's part at least.
When Tohma heard Masaru say 'no', his arm immediately shot down away from his face to rest by his side and his eyes widening. Shit. "Masaru, I'm sorry.." he began quickly and sheepishly but was cut off when he felt something warm on the skin of his wrist. Tohma was too surprised to act otherwise, and allowed himself to be pulled, filling the space between the brunette and he.
Tohma replayed Masaru's words in his head, and it took a few seconds before he could completely comprehend them. In all honestly, Tohma was just glad and extremely relieved that his friend hadn't punched him in the face or shoved him away. "Too short?" Tohma repeated in a tiny voice. Tohma was slightly less hesitant this time, being bold enough to place his hand gently on the side of Masaru's face.
Surprisingly, Masaru's hair was quite soft and was nothing like Tohma expected it to be. "Like I said before, it's up to you," he said so quietly it was almost a whisper. He leaned in again and closed his eyes before pressing his lips to Masaru's, lingering for as long as his friend would allow.

Not even once did it cross Masaru's mind to punch Tohma. Besides, his thoughts were completely occupied by other things. Things which were much more important than punching right now, like the kiss. Hearing the tiny voice made him nod wordlessly while the color on his cheeks took on a darker pink. Was it that hard to understand? Masaru really didn't want to repeat himself; saying it in the first place had been embarrassing enough for his manly pride.
Masaru didn't let go of Tohma's wrist, even though he was certain that the blond wouldn't step back. Looking up when he felt the hand in his hair, the brunette smiled encouragingly. It... felt surprisingly nice. "Stop saying that, or do you want to boost my ego that badly?" he chuckled teasingly, yet his voice stayed unusually gentle. He couldn't get used to Tohma being so... submissive and leaving it up to him. They were equals after all. And if he weren't okay with this, he would have let him known right away.
This time though, he wasn't surprised when Tohma leaned in, having already expected the contact. Sighing quietly, the brunette allowed himself to close his eyes as he returned the kiss, trying to fully concentrate on the experience. It was right that he had wanted a second one. Now he could feel the softness of Tohma's lips, the gentle pressure he used... Slowly, he let go of Tohma's wrist and placed his hand on the boy's neck, holding him in place for just a little longer.
After a few moments had passed, Masaru finally pulled back, though he let his hand rest where it was for now. The kiss and the physical contact felt nicer than they should, clearly not like an act, he knew that now. But it didn't bother him; he didn't let it bother him. "Well," he said quietly and licked his lips thoughtfully as he looked at Tohma, a faint pink coloring his cheeks again. Yet, Masaru managed a teasing grin. "Not bad for someone like you~. That kiss convinced me, heh."
ugh, i hate when those guys do that D: now i'm getting hungry.

Feeling the sudden warm pressure on the skin of his neck, Tohma tensed slightly before relaxing again a few seconds later. He hadn't expected Masaru to be so responsive and it was beginning to feel like much more than an act to fool his father, despite what logic and common sense were trying to tell him.
When Masaru pulled away, Tohma dropped his hand from where his fingers were shallowly buried in brunette hair to the edge of the bed, beside where Masaru sat. Watching Masaru's face, Tohma's warm fluttery feeling disappeared and was immediately replaced by jealousy. How many others had gotten to see Masaru like this? Even though the relationship was meant to be fake, Tohma still felt possessive over the boy in front of him. It was natural; Tohma didn't like anyone touching what was his.
He had even noticed that his expression had changed until Masaru's voice reached his ears, and his features quickly softened. He looked at his friend with gentle surprise. "Someone like me?" Tohma could feel a blush rising in his face and swiftly straightened himself out, turning slightly away from Masaru before the want to kiss the brunette arose again. He cleared his throat someone what awkwardly. "Yes, well.. let's hope it convinces father."

Masaru couldn't help but chuckle amused as he withdrew his hand from the boy's neck. Tohma really should have seen his face; seeing him blush like that was quite funny, although it almost made his heart skip a beat. Strange, he was sure that this wasn't supposed to happen. It was just an... act after all. The whole reason for putting on this fake relationship was to get rid of Tohma's engagement after all; nothing else.
"I'm confident that it will," he replied cheerfully and gave a brief shrug, though he only noticed afterwards that Tohma probably didn't see it. Reaching out, he clenched his hand in mid-air into a fist. "Tohma," the brunette waited impatiently for his friend to face him again. "Don't worry so much, we'll get rid of that engagement in no time." Masaru's voice was calm and serious, it didn't waver a single bit. "In the worst case, I'll just have to steal you away for real~!"
Giving Tohma the time to let his words sink in, Masaru stood up and stretched himself, turning away from the blond. After saying those words, he felt better. Now he really was confident that they had a chance as long as they would work together. Facing Tohma again, the brunette grinned optimistically. "So, any questions we need to clear first?" he asked immediately before frowning slightly. "Because I was thinking...."
It wasn't really that he had thought about it, it was only something that had crossed his mind all of a sudden. "What are we going to do with that Maria girl?" Masaru might not like it, but Tohma and she were still engaged. It was only fair when the blond had to decide. "It's up to you whether we tell her or not, you know..."

Up until when he heard Masaru say his name, Tohma had been avoiding the brunette's gaze, knowing that if he saw the other boy in his post-kissed state then he wouldn't be able to look away. Instead, Tohma stared at the fist between them. Tohma sighed softly. "If you say so.." he mumbled before his breath hitched in his throat upon hearing the rest of Masaru's words. For some reason, he didn't resent the idea. Not even close to resentment, and that fact freaked him out a little bit.
Tohma followed Masaru's movements as the other boy stood and stretched with his eyes. "Because I was thinking...." The blonde looked curious and refrained himself from making some insulting comment on the lines of 'don't strain yourself' like he was used to. Masaru was doing him a massive favour after all, and he knew better than to give his friend even the slightest incentive to regret his agreement on helping.
For a moment, Tohma looked thoroughly amused. "Getting jealous are we?" he teased lightly before his expression became serious and thoughtful. Tohma had nothing against his fiancee; in fact he quite liked her, but only to the point of friendship and he didn't want to hurt or disappoint her. "I suppose should. It wouldn't really be fair to her if it looked like I was cheating on her with you.." Tohma let his voice trailed of when he realized what he had just said.

Grimacing, the brunette almost regretted his question. He wasn't jealous, there was no reason to be. He believed Tohma's words when he had said that there was no romance between him and the girl. Above all, why should he get jealous when it was only an act? Though, that didn't change the fact that he disliked the idea of Tohma being with her. "Shut up, Tonma," the brunette muttered somewhat flustered as he let his gaze drift into a different direction, away from Tohma. "You're not that great."
Still listening to the blond's words, Masaru made small noise in the back of his throat. Cheating... Sometimes, he really wondered what was going on in Tohma's mind. Though, he figured that the boy was right. Even though he had only met Tohma's fiancee for a few minutes before leaving the room with him, he could tell that she was a good person. Perhaps a little shy, but nevertheless nice.
"Alright," he nodded in agreement before he encouragingly patted Tohma's back, unconsciously letting the touch linger for a few seconds longer than intended. "Whatever you want, Tohma." It was a man's duty to be honest to those dear to him, after all. Going on ahead, Masaru reached the door frame after a few steps. But instead of opening the door, his hand hovered hesitantingly above the knob as the brunette turned his head to look at the blond. "C'mon, take the lead," he urged him to move. Yet, he gave him a short, but gentle smile. "The sooner we talk to her, the sooner you'll feel better."

Hearing Masaru's reaction to his words, Tohma couldn't keep a small smile from tugging at his lips. It was genuine smile; there was no smugness or malice, and when Tohma realized he was doing it, it quickly cleared his throat and returned his expression neutral. "Great enough to get the great Masaru-sama to go out with me," he said quietly, rolling his eyes and smirking slightly.
Tohma doubted that he feel any better after talking to his fiancee. After all, Tohma had no problem disobeying his father as it was something he had pretty done his entire life. Tohma didn't see all the noble traditions as rules to dictate his life, merely guild lines. But just looking at Maria, Tohma knew that wasn't the case for her, and he didn't want to cause her any unnecessary burden. Even though she was always civil and kind, the blonde knew how much she didn't want to the marriage to happen.
Swallowing visibly, Tohma nodded and followed Masaru to his door. He eyed the brunette's hesitating hand just above his doorknob before brushing it aside gently and pulling the door open himself, mentally pleading that his father hadn't decided to wander around. Tohma's steps towards Maria's room were a but slower than usual. Talking to her then wasn't something he particularly wanted to do, but some part of him knew that Masaru was right and that he had to get it over and done with.

"Great enough to get the great Masaru-sama to go out with me." Those words kept replaying in Masaru's head, even after they had left the room. He wouldn't have thought that they'd leave such an impact on him, but they did. They made it sound so... real, like they really were going out. It was a nice thought, although also a little disturbing. He liked Tohma. He liked him enough to play along, but was that really everything? The brunette had always trusted his feelings, together with his fists they were what kept him pushing forward all the time. But this time... there was this uncertainty he couldn't name yet.
Watching Tohma's back as they walked in silence, Masaru frowned. The blond's steps were slow and hesitant; it started to bug him. Having seen enough, the brunette swiftly grabbed Tohma's wrist and forced him to face him. "Stop it," he scowled before he clicked his tongue in annoyance. "Stop being so insecure, that's not like you!" Twisting his grip so that he got a hold of the blond's hand, he gave it a short squeeze. He didn't know why he did that, but it felt right. "If you didn't want to talk to her yet, you should have said so when we were still in your room!" Masaru let his gaze drop to their hands; he didn't want to let go of Tohma's hand yet. A faint pink colored his cheeks. "I... I would have understood..."
He wasn't good at talking like this. Using his fists was his way of speaking. There was a lot more what a fist could say when words were useless. But in this situation... Certainly, it wouldn't hurt to punch Tohma. Maybe that would get him back on the right track. It was long over-due anyway. "You still do boxing, right?" he suddenly asked; genuine interest flashed in his eyes. His lips curled into a soft, yet challenging smile. "Let's have a match~!" It didn't have to be now or even today. Any day was fine as long as Tohma would agree to fight him.
